This summer, in association with the Rooftop Garden Project, a pilot side project has been created to grow food in otherwise unused land. Montreal’s now obsolete green recycling bins have been transformed into self-watering containers and are now parked in two schoolyards in the Plateau.
We have over 100 bins and are growing 30 different types of tomatoes, aubergines, kale, swiss chard, Espelette, cayenne and chili peppers. Cucumbers, watermelon radishes, cipolini onions, zucchini and tons of herbs.
We will be cooking as we harvest throughout the summer until mid-October. What cannot be used fresh will be jarred and preserved and be available on this website under products.
